Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Statement
We recognize the history of oppression, which has resulted in ongoing disparities based upon race, gender, perceived abilities, religion, culture, economic status, age, and more. We work to acknowledge and address these disparities by creating a culture of inclusion, respect, and authenticity. As a non-profit we understand there are barriers to changing this within the larger context of systemic oppression.
Our mission, vision and values guide our work. The commitment of the Board of Directors and Staff to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within this framework is unwavering and a priority in all that we do.
Our commitment is ongoing and actionable, reflected in changes to organizational structure, policies, program enhancements, retention practices, including staff and board representation of the communities we serve.
We welcome everyone.
Ride Connection provides transportation options to individuals in need. From older adults and people with disabilities to low-income folks and underserved communities, we are able to provide essential transportation services thanks to the work and support of our staff, volunteers, partners, donors, and advocates.
Our services bring together friends and family, prevent social isolation, alleviate financial stress, and create new connections that strengthen our community. Ride Connection is committed to providing inclusive transportation options for all individuals in need in the Portland tri-county area.
Working together to provide more.
The Ride Connection network is made up of a collection of agencies who serve older adults and people with disabilities as well as low-income individuals and general public. This network offers a variety of transportation options in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties. Together, we provide over 300,000 rides and support more than 2,000 individuals with training and access to public transportation each year.
Land Acknowledgement
Ride Connection acknowledges that our facilities are situated on the traditional village sites of the Multnomah Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla, Clackamas, and many other Indigenous nations of the Columbia River, who have called this place home long before the arrival of white colonizers (Portland Indian Leaders Roundtable, 2018). We honor and recognize the enduring relationship between Indigenous peoples and their territories.
